Carbon dioxide indoors is mostly a measure of ventilation. People breathe it out, so a number that climbs through a meeting means the air is not being changed rather than that anything is wrong with the building.
This is the large-display model. It does the same measuring job as the portable CO2 detector we also sell; the difference is that this one is meant to be read from across a room by everyone in it, rather than held.
That distinction is the whole reason to choose between them. A meter on a meeting-room wall changes behaviour, because somebody opens a window. A meter on a desk drawer does not.
The sensor is infrared rather than chemical, which means it settles faster and holds its calibration better. Temperature and humidity share the screen, which is genuinely useful context: the same room at the same ppm feels quite different at 45 percent humidity and at 70.
It has an intelligent alarm, a backlit full-colour screen and one-key operation, and it runs on a rechargeable battery so it can sit where it is useful rather than where the socket is.
It is an instrument, not a safety device. It is not a carbon monoxide alarm and not a smoke detector, and it is not a substitute for either.

Does it need calibrating?

Why does the number jump when someone walks in?
Because people breathe out carbon dioxide and the meter is working. A reading that responds to a room filling up is a good sign, not a fault.
Is the display readable from a distance?
That is the reason this model exists. It is a large full-colour backlit screen.
Can I mount it on a wall?
It is designed to stand and be seen. Check what is in the box for a mount rather than assuming one.
Will it tell me if the air is unhealthy?
